Handmade Organic Soap Ingredients

All my natural handmade soaps start with this basic recipe. These soaps are made with the finest oils to nourish and moisturize your skin.

Organic Olive Oil - My natural handmade soaps contain nearly 40% enriching olive oil! I use pure organic olive oil, not the cheaper Pomace grade olive oil that many companies use in their soaps.

Some benefits of olive oil soap to your skin:
Olive oil soap softens and smoothes your skin and is great for dry and sensitive skin since olive oil is such a rich emollient ( something that smoothes or softens the skin) Olive oil is helpful in relieving symptoms of skin diseases like eczema and psorasis. Olive oil won’t clog your pores because it’s non-greasy, so it’s good for people suffering from acne. Olive oil contains squalene and squalane. Squalene is naturally produced by the sebum glands in your skin. The squalene and squalane work together to help prevent the skin’s natural oils from oxidizing which could lead to cell deterioration. Hydroxytyrosol gives olive oil anti-inflammatory properties which research shows is good for healing abrasions, rashes, and sunburn. Hydroxytyrosol also has microbial properties.

Organic Coconut Oil - A healthy way to make a great lathering soap without using harsh ingredients such as SLS ( sodium laurel sulfate) which is what the commercial soap companies primarily use to create lather.

Organic sustainable sourced Palm Oil - Another healthy addition to create lather.

Avocado Oil - A rich and extremely deep penetrating oil rich in vitamins A, D, and E, lecithin, and potassium, known as the youth mineral. It also contains proteins, beta-carotene, and more than twenty percent essential unsaturated fatty acids. It is also high in sterolins, which are reputed to reduce age spots, help heal sun damage and scars. It is the sterolins (also called plant steroids) in the oil that help to soften the skin and impart a superior moisturizing effect. This makes it an ideal ingredient for people with dehydrated, sun or climate damaged skin, as it is an extremely good moisturizing and nourishing compound, assisting in the regeneration and rejuvenation of the skin. It is also known to significantly increase the amount of collagen in the skin – which normally is under attack as we grow older. It is easily absorbed into deep tissue, and with its wonderfully emollient properties, it is ideal for mature skins.

Apricot Kernel Oil - Apricot kernel oil contains a high vitamin E content and has excellent skin-softening properties. It is very good for mature skin, sensitive skin, and skin that is inflamed and dry.

I use only natural colors, derived from botanicals, or natural mineral pigments in making our soaps.
